Alina Kluza-Kaja

1985

She finished Leon Wyczółkowski State Plastic Arts High School in Bydgoszcz with her sister Alina Kluza-Kaja, Then they studied together at the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdańsk.

Artistically they are fulfilled mainly through painting and sculpture. Anna and Alina create using an original and unusual technique that allows their paintings to “come out” into space and gain the third dimension or look deep into the sculpted bodies. Based on sculpting technology developed by Alina, the artists use dyed flax fibre, material from nature. Hardened flax fibre creates a delicate shell, like a chitinous carapax.

Alina Kluza-Kaja deals with painting, sculpture. She also executes projects of statuettes, reliefs and medals. She designed and executed the statuette of “Mistrz” – a poetic award and “Orfeusz” – a literary award. Historical models of Bydgoszcz and Malbork sculpted by Alina and her husband based on old maps, illustrations and photos can be admired in these cities. Currently, the artist works on reliefs presenting the stations of the cross.
